Wonderswan Game Recommendations

So I now have two Wonderswan consoles, and have discussed the accessories available, but now want to spend a bit more time checking out the games for the Wonderswan.

One game that I really want to get is Gunpey EX, and I'm also keen to get hold of Tetris. But if you stumble upon this page and can tell me what other Wonderswan games you would personally recommend, please feel free to use the comments section below to post details of what games you think are worth checking out and why.

The blog isn't massively read, so I'm not expecting to be overwhelmed with suggestions, but I'd really like to hear from anyone who has a view on the "must play" Wonderswan games.

Mr Driller is always worth checking out. I have also quite enjoyed some of the rock(mega)man games. If you are a fan of anime at all there is obviously a large number of games to check out. There is a naruto rpg and a one piece fighting game as well as loads of gundam games. Actually if anyone could recommend the best gundam game that would be useful to know.

    Thanks for that!

I definitely want to check out Mr Driller and Rockman like you said. I think Genki - who I mentioned previously - have both of those on their site but I'm waiting for eBay bargains at the mo, thought I may just have to order them.

Hopefully someone else can reply with a recommendation on the best Gundam game for you.

I've been reading this blog for the past 2 months now, and I'm also looking for a Swancrystal and/or FF2 WSC. The games I'd go for are Battle Spirit: Digimon Frontier and One Piece: Grand Battle Swancolliseum, because you don't need to japanese for those (they're fighting games).

Could you tell me if Dokodemo Hamster 3 is worth searching for and if FF2 is playable beacuse fo the language?

    Hi Flying Dutchman

Thanks for the recommendations. I also heard some good stuff about Swancolliseum on the NTSC-UK.com forums so think I will buy that one.

Dokodemo Hamster 3... to be honest I would recommend it an awful lot. It's kind of cool to see some of the quirky screens where you take your hamster to the circus or whatever, but I can't honestly say I got any gaming satisfaction from it. If you like the pet sim gen re though, it seems cool.

FF2.. I tried it... Didn't get too far at all because of the language. I heard there are English guides available but I reckon you'd need to be a Final Fantasy fan to bother, and I can't say I am.

Hmmm that would mean One Piece and Battle Spirit (yeah I know the Digimon cartoon isn't that great, but maybe the fighting game is) are the only two games I'm still going for. I hope the games are worth getting a Swancrystal for.

Maybe RockMan & Forte: Mirai Kara no Chousensha will be better than FF. It's a platform game, so your Japanese doesn't have to be that great.

I just picked up a WonderSwan and a SwanCrystal, and found this page in search of game recommendations. Been hunting through used game shops large and small in Tokyo, and the WS game pickings are scarce. I only have two games (neither of them color, unfortunately): Terrors and Puzzle Bobble.

Terrors seems to be a collection of scary stories with a few sound effects and pictures for atmosphere. Unless you can read a novel in Japanese, don't bother with this. I only got it because it was 200 yen and I needed something to test if the WonderSwan actually worked (300 yen at a junk shop).

Puzzle Bobble a.k.a. Bust-A-Move is fun, and you only need a smidge of Japanese to read a few basic menus at the start/end of game. The only annoyance is that I don't think you can turn off just the music yet keep the sound effects.

I'd like to recommend Rockman and Forte, which is a very good platform game, but unfortunately, someones don't like the chara-design, cause it's the same as in Rockman 8 on the PS (definitely THE ugliest Rockman)

Chocobo is good also, and One Piece Grand Battle is one of the best fighting games on handheld systems because it takes advantage of the Swancrystal's TFT LCD screen with superb "pixel art" and a great design quality. Really really good...

I also recommend the Final Fantasy series, because even if you can't understand all the story, they're really good games ^_^
